Friedrich

Hi, I’m Joeli Friedrich, the owner and head occupational therapist at Catching Waves Therapy. Starting this practice has been a lifelong dream of mine – creating a place where every child feels safe, welcomed, and celebrated for exactly who they are. My goal is to provide therapy that is as unique as each child, tailored to their strengths, needs, and interests.

From the time I was young, I knew I wanted to work with children. I spent my early years volunteering and helping whenever I could, which grew into a passion for supporting kids as they discover their potential. That passion led me to the University of Florida, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Disabilities in Society, and later to New York University, where I received my master’s degree in occupational therapy.Over the years, I’ve gained experience in many areas of pediatric OT, including sensory processing and regulation, emotional regulation, motor development (both fine and gross motor), self-care skills (ADLs), social skills, body awareness, safety awareness, and overall strengthening. I’m also certified in primitive reflex integration and specialize in aquatic therapy, something especially close to my heart.

Growing up, I was always drawn to the water. Whether it was weekends at the lake, scuba diving, or working as a lifeguard as a teenager. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful water can be as a therapy tool, offering children opportunities for sensory integration, strength, confidence, and safety that carry over into everyday life.

Most importantly, I truly love what I do. There is nothing better than watching a child reach a new goal, build confidence, and take the next step toward becoming their best self. Every child deserves to feel special, seen, and heard.
